Hoosier Sporting Goods is a locally owned business operating in the heart of downtown Columbus, Indiana. We have been on the same street for over 70 years. We strive to provide the best customer service imaginable. Every customer who enters the physical store is greeted and assisted until they are completely satisfied. To us every sale is THE sale, and every customer is THE customer.

Hoosier Sporting Goods was founded around 1940 in Columbus, Indiana. It was originally called Meyer’s Sporting Goods until the early 1950’s when John Ward, a longtime Meyer’s manager, purchased the store and renamed it Hoosier Sporting Goods. The store has been on the same street in the heart of downtown Columbus since its inception. Hoosier Sporting Goods has been in its current location, 611 Washington Street, since 1971. Hunting, fishing and athletic shoes were among the top sellers in the beginning. Team uniforms, customized apparel, embroidery and state of the art engraving and awards are now the main draw.

In addition, We offers general sporting goods equipment for: baseball, basketball, football, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball. It also is capable of on-site screen-printing, embroidery, and awards, including trophies, plaques, and other recognition awards. We serves 11 elementary schools, 2 middle schools and 2 high schools, as well as other numerous public, private, and parochial schools in Columbus and the surrounding counties. Supplying school apparel is a large part of the success of Hoosier Sporting Goods. Most of the sports teams at those schools are wearing uniforms supplied by Hoosier Sporting Goods, as well as a number of fans that are decked out in our customized apparel while attending those events.
